This week, I took the time to go around and explore the world of Twitter. After experimenting and fiddling around Twitter, I am of the opinion that Twitter isn’t really my forte. Whilst one needs time to familiarise and get to use to Twitter and I am far from being an expert in it, I do see why Twitter appeals to the masses.
After conducting research on my topic about Malaysian culture on Twitter, I found a couple of hashtags that are pretty active and relevant to my topic being #malaysianculture and #malaysiatrulyasia. These hashtags are mainly used by the Malaysian Tourism Board themselves to promote the beauty of Malaysia as well as to encourage tourists to visit the country. Other hashtags used by me that are relevant to the current article or topic that I had tweeted or discussed includes #sabah, #eastmalaysia, #blog and #manglish.
When retweeting, I tried to search and select news or articles that may be of interest to my followers. It could be a particular custom which I think they may be interested in or simply something that caught my eye and I simply wanted to pass it along and share it with others.

A couple of my tweets that I have made on Twitter are depicted in the pictures above. As Twitter has a 140-character limit, I found it a bit difficult to compose my tweets as I discovered that I tend to surpass the limit. This then forces me to try and tweak my tweet into being short, precise and concise.
My tweets did not receive a lot of responses. The most I had was a tweet that received two retweets as well as a like and another tweet that received three likes. As of yet, I only have two followers.
From my experience, I find using Twitter to be a lot harder and thus also harder in gaining followers. However, I do believe that Twitter is a useful platform that allows one to directly connect and converse with their readers instantly. Overall, I find it challenging to use Twitter as it is quite difficult to draw in followers and also due to the character limitation given. Despite that, I can see Twitter being a valuable ally and tool in promoting my blog and drawing in potential readers over a period of time.
